VAX.TXT from Supra BBS (503-967-2444) (PHM 5/4/93)
VAX with terminal server setup w/SupraFAXModem v.32 or v.32bis
- Your setup may vary, but this worked for a user that called
Supra, and it provides a general example for you to build on.
From a dumb terminal set the following states:
AT&F2EQ1S0=2&K4&W
This sets the following conditions:
All normal types of dial-in connections are supported.
NO ECHO of characters.
NO Result Codes
XON/XOFF flow control.
-change &K4 to &K for no flow control
-change &K4 to &K3 & add &S1 for RTS/CTS flow control
CARRIER DETECT follows carrier state.
DTR followed from server (modem will not answer if DTR low and will
disconnect if DTR dropped while carrier is present.)
ANSWER on 2nd RING (change # S0 is equal to change)
MODEM will talk to server at the serial port rate the terminal was
at when the init. string was issued.
Terminal server utility setup:
The system can be setup to detect a login attemp based on any of the following:
RI pulse (Hardware RING line - pin 22)
DCD high (Data Carrier Detect active - pin 8)
RD activity (Characters being sent on RD line - pin 3)
The system can force a disconnect by dropping DTR - pin 20)
The system can detect a disconnect by loss of DCD - pin 8)
The system can be set to either AUTOBAUD or forced to the rate the dumb terminal
was set to when the modem was programmed. In either case, the modem
serial port rate will match the rate used when programmed.
